Konami Wants to ‘Consider Lots of Other Games’ for Remake Treatment if MGS Delta Succeeds

Konami Wants to ‘Consider Lots of Other Games’ for Remake Treatment if MGS Delta Succeeds

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set to launch in a few days’ time, and we reckon it’s well worth your time, whether an old time fan or a newcomer.

Having received very positive reception from critics, it appears the game is set up for success, and if it does well, publisher Konami is ready to think about other remake projects.

Speaking to Game Informer, producers Noriaki Okamura and Yuji Korekado said that, if Delta is successful, they’d like to “consider lots of other games in the future”.

We are always thinking about what we could do for the Metal Gear series, but in regards to remaking future titles, currently we’re just focusing on the now, and we thought what would be the best way to reach both the old fans and potential new fans, as well.

At the moment, we are focused on delivering Delta in the best possible way to the current generation, and once this game is released, if the fans feel they would like to see more from playing the game, then we would like to consider lots of other games in the future. For now, this is it.

So, it sounds as though Konami is willing to explore more games from its back catalogue if this remake does the business.

MGS Delta: Snake Eater is a super faithful remake of the PS2 classic. It delivers cutting edge visuals in Unreal Engine 5, makes some smart refinements to gameplay (without sacrificing the original controls if you prefer), and will feature a brand new multiplayer mode post-launch.

However, all dialogue is identical to the original, as are the way cutscenes play out.

We can easily imagine Konami giving the same treatment to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and possibly even MGS1, though that will likely require more drastic changes.
