CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have an arrested a child consultation center employee in Ichikawa City over the illicit touching of a middle school girl’s body, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Mar. 29).
At just before 9:00 p.m. on March 28, Shinya Ito, 31, a child consultation center employee in Ichikawa City, allegedly grabbed the buttocks of the girl from behind on an escalator at JR Nishi-Funabashi Station.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of indecent assault on March 28, Ito admitted to the charges. He said, “There is no doubt that I touched the woman’s buttocks. I was unable to control my sexual desire.”
As the incident unfolded, the girl’s mother was standing in front of Ito. The girl then grabbed Ito’s hand and told her mother that she was being molested.
After her mother called for help, a security guard subdued Ito on the spot. The guard then called police.
According to the Chiba Prefectural government, the suspect has been working at Ichikawa Child Welfare Center since April 2022.
Following the incident, the government held a press conference and apologized. A representative said, “We are truly sorry and deeply apologize at a time when public servant ethics are being severely questioned.”
