North Yorkshire Police has released CCTV footage which appears to show Greg Marshall, 35, and Jason Daniel Rhodes, 33, being chased by Ian James Franklin brandishing a knife near Roche Avenue, off Huntington Road.
Franklin, 34, of Roche Avenue, was today (Monday, April 14) jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for Mr Marshall’s murder at Leeds Crown Court.
Mr Marshall’s widow, Michelle Marshall, told the court her family had been “ripped apart” by the murder.
A jury, after an eight-week trial, convicted Franklin of murdering Mr Marshall, wounding Rhodes, and carrying a knife in public.
He had denied all charges and claimed he had been acting in self defence.
Ian James Franklin (Image: North Yorkshire Police) Rhodes, 33, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to carrying a blade in public and was jailed for 55 weeks on April 2.
After the hearing, Detective Sergeant Rebecca Prentice from North Yorkshire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Justice has been served with today’s verdict and our thoughts remain with Mr Marshall’s family and loved ones.
“This was a brutal and senseless crime, and I hope the outcome provides some measure of closure for those affected.”
