DGP Stresses Need To Adopt Advanced Methods For Efficient Crime Detection

Hyderabad: Director-General of Polcie Dr Jitender emphasised the need to adopt advanced methods under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) to enhance the efficiency of crime detection and criminal tracking. Dr Jitender stated that new tools and techniques should be effectively utilised to track offenders

The DGP highlighted the importance of senior officers actively using the system, thereby setting an example for personnel at the field level, while speaking at a video conference with district SPs and commissioners. He also reviewed the implementation of the CCTNS project.

The DGP stressed the need for widespread adoption of digital features such as e-summons and e-sakshya, and said the vast data and information generated through CCTNS would prove to be extremely useful for policing efforts.

Three held for marketing fake products online

Hyderabad: City cybercops arrested Nikhil, Mohit Sharma and Sonu Kumar of Delhi for marketing fake products online. Cybercrime DCP Dara Kavitha said the trio had created 19 fake listings on the websites. The misrepresentation led to customer confusion and dissatisfaction, which damaged the reputation of a city-based branded company.

Police were acting on a complaint from a doctor dealing with branded hair and skin care products. He said one of his branded soaps was being unauthorizedly ‘white-labeled’ and sold on online platforms by third party sellers.

DCP Kavitha said the trio ran an e-commerce business by manufacturing and falsely labelling fakes with names of branded products and selling them online. Police seized 80 soap bars, 20 skin care soaps, mobile phones and a laptop from the trio.

30,000 sanitary napkins seized from Kushaiguda factory during BIS-Hyd raids

Hyderabad: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)-Hyderabad seized 30,000 sanitary napkins during a search operation at a factory outlet in Kushaiguda, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, as also over 7,000 napkin without the mandatory BIS certification and ISI mark.

P.V. Srikanth, director and head, BIS-Hyderabad, said the products fell under IS 5405: 2019, mandated by the Centre through a quality control order to ensure women’s health, hygiene, and safety. “The absence of standard compliance not only violates the law but also raises serious concerns regarding women’s health and safety,” Srikanth said.

The operation was conducted under the directions of Srikanth and led by joint directors Sattu Savitha, and Rakesh Tanneeru. Srikanth urged consumers to verify the authenticity of BIS-certified products through the BIS Care app or by visiting www.bis.gov.in and also lodge complaints through these channels.
