20-Year-Old Man Killed, Passenger Hurt in Single-Vehicle Collision near Highway 198
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 22, 2025) – Late Sunday night, one man was pronounced dead after a high-speed crash on Houston Avenue.
Dispatchers received calls around 11:25 p.m., near Highway 198 on April 20th.
According to reports, the 20-year-old male driver of a 2022 BMW M340i was heading west on Houston at a high rate of speed. As a result, the driver was unable to negotiate a curve, and lost control of the vehicle.
Police officers say the BMW struck a concrete barrier located on the over crossing.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. However, authorities have not yet released his name or place of residency.
Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted the 23-year-old male passenger to a nearby hospital for further treatment of major injuries.
