The Koshland Estate is named after Daniel Koshland, former president of Levi Strauss credited for the company’s emergence in the 1960’s as a global clothing brand.

The property was built in 1961 and designed by Howard Friedman, Koshland’s son-in-law and then head of the UC Berkeley School of Architecture and a Frank Lloyd Wright disciple.
