Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Dimensity 9500 ready to destroy Antutu rankings

Fans of high-performance and flagship smartphones seem to be in luck. The “mobile chip war” is intensifying, which will result in better products for users. Next year, premium devices are expected to make another big leap in power and efficiency. According to a recent leak, both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 will exceed 4 million points on AnTuTu.

AnTuTu is one of the most popular benchmarks in the mobile industry. The way it displays results, with scores for four key sections and an overall total, is very user-friendly for the average person. The company also shares monthly rankings of the most powerful devices they have tested, encouraging competition. That said, the next-gen mobile chips are set to break all previous records in AnTuTu.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500 to surpass 4M points in AnTuTu, leaker claims

Digital Chat Station (DCS), a reliable leaker, has shared some additional details on Weibo about what we can expect in terms of performance for the flagship chips from MediaTek and Qualcomm. The most notable aspect of the post is that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 and Dimensity 9500 will boast AnTuTu scores of at least 4 million. Based on the leaker’s explanation, this is the minimum score these chips will achieve in the benchmark. Therefore, specific optimizations for each Android brand could raise the figure even higher.

It’s noteworthy that a March report mentioned the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 scoring around 3.8 million points in Antutu. However, it appears that Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset has since received optimizations. Something similar could be said about MediaTek’s next most powerful SoC.

Details behind the power upgrades

DCS adds that part of the secret to the improvements in both hardware platforms will lie in the implementation of big cores and large caches. The SoCs will also support faster memory and storage.

Qualcomm is expected to implement the second generation of its Oryon custom cores in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. The first generation offered a huge leap in power and efficiency. Thus, expectations from fans and the tech industry in general are quite high. On the other hand, MediaTek doesn’t use custom cores but uses the most powerful ARM processors available. The Dimensity 9500 will boast an ARM Cortex-X930 “Travis” ultracore clocked at over 4 GHz.

Considering that both chips are still months away from being announced, it’s possible that both Qualcomm and MediaTek will continue to optimize them, potentially achieving even higher results. More news on this matter will surely emerge in the coming weeks.
