John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Is Back from the Dead with Bloodthirsty Gameplay Trailer

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Is Back from the Dead with Bloodthirsty Gameplay Trailer

Not seen since its announcement over two years ago, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando reemerges with a brand new gameplay trailer, as well as a release window.

Here’s a taste of what this co-op zombie shooter is all about:

Bringing a pulpy energy and buckets of zombie viscera, this looks like it should serve Left 4 Dead fans well.

It looks like you’ll be able to group up with friends (cross-play is also supported) and engage in first-person horde-blasting action, both on-foot and in vehicles.

The game is powered by Saber’s Swarm Engine, which was also put to use for World War Z: Aftermath and Warhammer Space Marine 2. In other words, expect lots of enemies onscreen.

You’ll be able to pick your character and class, each specialising in different ways of course.

Inspired by 80s horror and action movies, the game has “buddy-movie vibes and over-the-top humour” as you take on the undead, upgrade your weapons, and work together to beat increasingly tough challenges.

There’s no denying that this kind of co-op action can be huge fun, and Saber has put out some great games the last few years, so this has some potential.

It’s set to release in early 2026 on PS5. Are you interested in Toxic Commando? Let us know in the comments section below.
