UPI Faces Second Outage In A Week; Now Stable, Says NPCI

Barely a week after the Unified Payments Interface system faced an outage, several users were again unable to use their UPI apps on Wednesday.

According to Down Detector, a website which tracks the outages on digital platforms, around 383 users reported facing outage at 7:18 pm. About 51% of the users who complained of UPI outage said they were facing problems related to fund transfer, whereas 47% were facing issues related to payments.

The National Payments Corporation Of India Ltd., which is the nodal agency for digital payments in the country, noted that there were some intermittent declines in UPI due to “fluctuations in the success rates in some banks”. These fluctuations increased the latency in UPI network, it added.

NPCI added that it has been working closely with those banks, and that “UPI has been stable”.
