
AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 21-year-old man aftet the discovery of the corpse of a missing girl from Tokyo inside his residence in Ichinomiya City on Monday, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 2).
At just after 11:40 p.m. on Monday, police entered the house of Masaki Eguchi, of no known occupation, and found the body in a closet on the second floor.
The body, lying face-up, was wrapped in a blanket and masking tape. It had sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and shoulders.
Police said that the cause of death was shock due to loss of blood.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, Eguchi admitted to the allegations. He also alluded to murdering the girl.
Eguchi, who was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body, admitted to the charges. “There’s no doubt that I did it,” he said.
Waka Kato
Police later identified the body as being that of Waka Kato, a 16-year-old high school student living in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo.
Kato, who was on spring break, is believed that she had come into contact with Eguchi through online games.
According to investigators, Kato told her mother on March 28, “I’m going to Aichi to meet someone I met through an online game.”
However, the next day, she stopped responding to messages on the chat app Line. Her mother filed a missing persons report that same day.
Eguchi lives with his parents. During the subsequent investigation, police learned that she might be at his residence.
According to the National Police Agency, 98 children fell victim to various crimes triggered by online games over the past year. Nearly 60 percent of them were junior high school students. By gender, most were female.
