This warning comes after Apple removed one of its most powerful data security features from use in the UK earlier this year.
Advanced Data Protection (ADP) is an opt-in tool on Apple’s iCloud service, which meant only an account holder could access the “majority” of file types such as photos or notes, as they were end-to-end encrypted.
Last month, it was reported that the Government had issued an order under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, asking for the ability to access this data from Apple users.

The iPhone maker subsequently said that it was withdrawing the tool from use in the UK.
Apple has turned off the option for those not already using it and will introduce a process to move existing users away from it as well.
Apple users in the UK “most at risk in the world” of being hacked
Now, Liberal Democrat Lord Strasburger has accused the Home Office of having “disdain” for the privacy and digital security of British citizens and companies.
How to avoid scams
Speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Strasburger, chairman of Big Brother Watch, said: “Once again, the Home Office has demonstrated its disdain for the privacy and the digital security of British citizens and companies.
“Strong encryption is essential to protect our data and our commerce from attack by organised crime and rogue states.
“Any weakness inserted into encryption for the benefit of the authorities is also available to those who would do us harm, and yet, that is precisely what the Government is demanding from Apple.

“Could the minister please explain why the Home Office wants to make Apple’s British customers the most at risk in the world of being hacked?”
Home Office minister Lord Hanson of Flint replied: “I can’t comment on operational matters relating to any issue, including neither confirming nor denying the existence of any notices.
“That is standard Government procedure, I can’t comment upon it, and I’m afraid, I know that will disappoint (Lord Strasburger), but that is the answer I have to give him.”
