Renowned NFL writer Peter King has ripped into Belichick over his recent controversial CBS interview.

King strongly criticized how Belichick allowed his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, to seemingly take control of the interview.

He also urged the legendary coach to take charge of his life and the narrative surrounding the situation.

“This is a guy who owned every room he ever walked into and now he’s got a 24-year-old muse telling him what to do or trying to control situations that quite frankly she has nothing to do with or should have nothing to do with,” King remarked boldy during his appearance on the “Sports Media with Richard Deitsch” podcast, per the New York Post.

Belichick had appeared on the CBS show to promote his upcoming tome, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” an account of many of his experiences from decades of coaching in the NFL.

Shockingly, he came dressed in a ripped shirt, something many, including King, found to be strange and inappropriate for such an appearance on TV.

“[He] goes on Sunday morning television with a sweatshirt on with a hole in it,” King asked, “but then why … a couple days after this, why does TMZ have him walking out of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, I think in New York, in a perfectly tailored blue suit. Why?

He added, “Where is he going? And why is he on a national TV show looking like he’s going to a press conference in Foxborough on no sleep?”

Amid the fallout from the interview, Belichick defended his girlfriend’s actions and accused the media outlet of steering the conversation away from the book.

“Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book,” read the first half of the statement, per CBS News.

“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book,” he added.

He went on to say that Dokoupil’s decision to repeatedly bring up relationship questions prompted his girlfriend to step in. He further defended Hudson’s actions by noting that their relationship went beyond just being personal.

“After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.”

In response to Belichick’s claims, a CBS spokesperson shared that there was never such an agreement with the legendary coach ahead of the interview.

“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview,” said the rep, per the New York Post. “There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation.

They also claimed to have had a conversation with Belichick’s publisher prior to the interview and said that no such restrictions were communicated.
