The Masters 2025: Dates, tee times, format, Australians to watch, prize money, odds, how to watch and everything you need to know

Jason Day has been forced to submit his Masters outfits for pre-approval after a vest he wore last year drew the ire of tournament organisers.

Playing with Tiger Woods on the Friday morning of last year’s tournament, Day finished his first round in a white knit vest we ‘No.313 Malbon Golf Championships emblazoned across the front.

When he arrived on the first tee later in the day to start his second round, the vest was gone. Tournament organisers had ordered he remove it.

Ahead of this year’s return to Augusta National, Day admitted last year’s first-round look was “a little bit much”, and organisers as a result ordered him to submit his outfit plans ahead of time.

“With what we’re supposed to wear, they said that’s a little bit much, but that’s OK,” he said.

“We had to send it in – I think I’m on the short list of guys that have to send their scripting in now. I get it. It was a little bit much on Thursday.”

The dress code at Augusta National is famously strict. Fans, members and players are all held to the same standard.

Fans are not allowed to run on the property, and phones are strictly prohibited.

Having spent much of his career wearing the Nike swoosh, Day joined Malbon in early 2024. The former world No.1 said he was fine altering his fashion choices.

“It’s good. I understand. We’re here for the tournament,” the 37-year-old said.

“This is why we come every April. We’re here to play the tournament and I understand.

“We’ll do what we can with what we have fashion-wise and enjoy playing.”

When is The Masters 2025

The Masters will take place at the famed Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia from April 10-13 (April 10-14 AEST).

The first rounds begin late Thursday night, with the tournament to culminate on Monday morning.

How many Australians are playing in The Masters?

There are five Aussies in the field this year – Cameron Smith, Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Cameron Davis and Adam Scott.

Scott is the only Australian to ever win the green jacket, having defeated Angel Cabrera in the second hole of a sudden death playoff in 2013.

The Masters prize money

The exact prize fund isn’t publicly released until after the event, but in 2024 Scottie Scheffler pocketed $6.03m for winning. Runner-up Ludvig Aberg won $3.6m.

Three players in a share of third place – Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa and Collin Morikawa – took home $1.7m each.

Cameron Smith was in a share of sixth place and still pocketed $1.1million.

Even players who miss the cut get a share of the prize fund. In 2024, they won about $16,000 (US$10,000).

Can Masters winners play Augusta at any time?

Kind of. Masters winners are ‘honorary members’ at Augusta. They can play Augusta any time they want, as long as it’s with a full member.

So while the answer is technically no, there wouldn’t be many members who would say no to the chance to be the host of a former Masters winner so they can play.

Is Tiger Woods playing in The Masters?

No. Having undergone surgery on a ruptured Achilles earlier this year, Tiger Woods is missing from The Masters field this year.

Woods has not played an official tournament since the Open last July, although he did play in the indoor TGL simulator league he co-founded.
