CALPIA Provides Eco-Friendly Products – California Green

The California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) offers a “California Green” product line while helping incarcerated individuals succeed in life.  

The organization provides real-world job training to incarcerated individuals so they can find meaningful employment when returning to their communities.  The self-funded state entity provides job skills to approximately 5,800 individuals in California state prisons. CALPIA reduces recidivism and helps public safety.   The organization’s goal is to ensure incarcerated individuals have career opportunities when they leave in hopes they never return to prison.  

CALPIA graduates earn industry accredited job certifications and time off their sentences.  Each individual applies to be in the program and CALPIA has countless success stories.  A recent University of California, Irvine recidivism study found that CALPIA participants have a 15% return to custody rate after three years, which means 85% of all CALPIA participants do not return to prison. 

The goods and services provided by CALPIA are sold predominantly to departments of the State of California and other government entities.

CALPIA’s California Green products are designed for commercial use where environmentally preferable chemicals are needed and are Green Seal Certified. California Green is an eco-friendly product line comprised of six products:

• Floor Finish
• Floor Stripper
• Glass Cleaner Concentrate
• Multipurpose Cleaner Concentrate
• Neutral Floor Cleaner Concentrate

Institutions, office buildings, schools, hospitals, and other public places are cleaned not only to improve appearances, but also to protect human health. California Green cleaners can improve indoor air quality, reduce cleaning-related health problems, and increase productivity and morale. California Green products also contribute points towards LEED certification.
