Kawasaki woman found dead in home; children hit and killed by train

KANAGAWA (TR) – Following the discovery of the body of a 91-year-old woman in her house in Kawasaki City on Monday, two people believed to be her children were hit and killed by a train.

Police suspect the children of Saeko Haraguchi were involved in her death before they took their lives, reports NHK (Mar. 26).

At around 12:20 p.m., police working off a tip found the body of Saeko Haraguchi was found atop a futon inside her residence.

At the time of the discovery, the door and windows were locked, police said.

Police later determined that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to pressure to the neck.

Haraguchi lived with her 59-year-old daughter and 56-year-old son. After the discovery, their whereabouts were not known.

At around 11:40 p.m., a man a woman were hit and killed by a train at a railway crossing near JR Shukugawara Station. The location is about 2 kilometers away from the residence.

Police believe that the two persons are the daughter and son based on belongings founds at the scene.
