Best 4 Season Starter Builds | Last Epoch 1.2: Tombs of the Erased
Bleed Hail of Arrows – Marksman
If you thought the new season would manage to get rid of this meta Marksman build… think again! This extremely powerful build uses a combination of Shifting, Jagged Cuts, and Hail of Arrows. When used in tandem, these skills allow you to deal massive Area of Effect damage while applying Bleed to everything in the area.
This build does however require the unique Sanguine Hoard quiver to be optimal. This quiver, when combined with Jagged Cuts, nearly guarantees the application of Bleed. On the upside, despite being a unique item, it’s one of the most common quivers to get in the game! Plus, the build is actually pretty solid anyway while you’re still farming for the quiver.
What also makes this build shine is its incredible ease of use. You really just need to constantly use Shifting followed by Hail of Arrows. Sometimes you can also use Puncture instead, which is great for restoring Mana thanks to Mana Warp and Sapping Strikes.
The only downside for the build is that it can struggle with more mobile or smaller bosses, like the Harbinger of Pride. They can more easily avoid the brunt of your Hail of Arrows, requiring more repositioning on your end. It’s not a huge deal, but worth keeping in mind!
Ignite Frost Claw – Sorcerer
This scorching Sorcerer build is all about dealing constant damage with a non-stop barrage of fire spells and is mostly aimed at clearing higher Corruption levels. The main source of damage for this build is a combination of Frost Claw with Lava Talon. This replaces Frost Claw’s Cold damage with Fire and also converts all instances of Chill to Ignite.
Since this build is mostly targeting high Corruption, it also comes with some pretty hefty survivability. For one, this build requires the Ashes of Mortality unique ring. The ring has a decent chance of granting Ward every time you apply Ignite, which you will be doing constantly.
You’ll also have the Reactive Ward passive to get a burst of Ward when your HP drops below 70%. Combine that with boosting your HP and using any Leech passives you can get from equipment and you’ll be basically unkillable.
As you might guess, the one downside for such a tanky Sorcerer build is that it’s not particularly amazing for blitzing through all content in the game. You’ll be clearing content a tad slower than other builds, you just won’t have to worry about ever dying.
Volcanic Orb – Runemaster
Next up on our list of starter builds for Last Epoch 1.2: Tombs of the Erased is the Runemaster’s turn. For this class, we recommend an extremely powerful build that combines Volcanic Orb and Runebolt. Runebolt will also have the combination of Arcane Restoration, Attuned Recovery, and Runeweaver passives. So, casting it will restore your Mana and grant Ward. What else could you ask for?
This build is also ridiculously simple to play, as it makes use of Last Epoch’s skill queuing mechanic. That means that you can just hold down both the Volcanic Orb and Runebolt hotkeys at once. If you have Mana, you will spam Volcanic Orb to use up all Mana. If your Mana’s empty, you’ll cast Runebolt to restore Mana and get Ward. Just hold down both keys at once and fire away!
Also worth noting in this build is that the Volcanic Orb is actually turned to Cold by obtaining the Rune of Winter skill in the Mage tree. This will grant it an additional chance to Freeze enemies, making them easier to manage. That works in tandem with Frost Armor, which you will use to bolster your damage and defenses.
Lastly, this build has some extra versatility as you can swap gear with passives to customize your Volcanic Orb. Speed it up for better clearing or slow it down to damage bosses more! The only real downside is just that you have to hold down two keys constantly, which can be uncomfortable.
Devouring Orb – Void Knight
Last but not least, this Devouring Orb build takes into account the balance changes that the Sentinel and Void Knight will be getting in 1.2. The Devouring Orb itself is the full star of the show here. You will use it in conjunction with its Dark Moon and Cosmic Impact passives, most notably.
The build itself is extremely simple to play, too. You cast Devouring Orb and just get in range of your enemies. The orbiting orbs will deal massive Void damage to nearby enemies, causing Void explosions when killing enemies for extra AoE damage. While the orbs do their thing, you’re free to use Javelin or Smite to deal even more damage to anything in your path!
Thanks to some changes coming in 1.2, you’ll also be able to get an autocast passive on the Devouring Orb. So, you will basically be using them completely passively! That aside, this build also has a big Vitality focus so it has solid survivability. As the cherry on top, it’s completely gear-agnostic so it doesn’t require you to target farm anything for most of your leveling process.
Now, the build itself isn’t the strongest thing out there, so it’s not as fast for clearing content or bosses as some others. However, its extreme ease of use and lack of unique gear reliance make it a fantastic season starter!
