A canoe was found in the stately home’s lake.
A spokesperson said: “We never thought we’d have to say this but… please, no canoes. Yes, you read that right.
“Our lovely lake at Scampston might look like the perfect spot for a paddle, but it’s actually private, and the wildlife aren’t fans of surprise visitors.
“It’s not exactly health & safety approved And let’s be honest — turning up in a canoe at someone’s house is just a bit cheeky.
“Please enjoy everything Scampston Hall & Walled Garden has to offer — on dry land and via the Ticket Office! Thanks for understanding and helping us keep the peace (and the geese and swans happy).”
