Happy Alien Day! Over the last decade, April 26th has been an official celebration of Ridley Scott‘s coveted horror franchise. Since 1979, when horror fans were introduced to Xenomorphs for the first time, there have been seven mainline films in the franchise. Nine if you include the Alien vs. Predator crossover films that aren’t canon. Now, to help honor some of the genre’s scariest monsters, Alien is getting a new apparel collection from Rucking Fotten.
The collection highlighting Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 has specifically been made for Alien Day. There are mostly long sleeves and t-shirts that feature Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley, the iconic Alien poster and more than a few Xenomorphs and chestbursters. However, there’s also a hat and sweatshirt featuring the classic Alien font. Rucking Fotten expressed their excitement for the new collection, writing:
“The last time we participated in Alien Day was 2022 where we paired the classic 1979 Alien with the super under-appreciated Prometheus for single design releases. I always thought there was so much more I could’ve done to dive deeper into that design and expand into a full capsule, 3 years later it’s become a reality!”
After Scott returned to the franchise in 2010 with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, modern genre icon Fede Álvarez brought the Xenomorphs back to their hardcore horror roots with Alien: Romulus. That throwback to the Alien and Aliens era for the series was both a critical and box-office hit, making over $350 million worldwide on an $80 production budget. That quickly got a sequel in development. Yet Alien will return sooner than one might think as its first TV series, Alien: Earth, is premiering this summer. Like the title implies, the Xenomorphs are finally coming to Earth in the main timeline. Also, in terms of films, Predator: Badlands‘ first teaser trailer this past week holds a lot of juicy Easter eggs for the Alien franchise. That may mean horror fans might finally get another Alien vs. Predator movie in the near future. The last Alien vs. Predator battle, Requiem, was released in 2007 and is the worst-reviewed film in the franchise with an abysmal 12% on Rotten Tomatoes.
All the Alien installments, including the Alien vs. Predator duology, are currently streaming on Hulu. Before your next Xenomorph-centric marathon, you can pre-order Rucking Fotten’s Alien Day 2025 apparel collection on their website. This is a limited-time event and will only last through Sunday, April 27th, so act fast fans before these items sell out.
