At the invitation of Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen will pay an official visit to China from May 17 to 20, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced on Thursday.
In response to a question about how China views the current China-Denmark relations and what it expects from the visit, spokesperson Lin Jian said that Denmark is one of the first Western countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Denmark. Currently, bilateral relations are developing soundly, with close cooperation in the economy, trade, green innovation and other fields, Lin said.
Both China and Denmark support multilateralism and free trade and have extensive consensus on important issues such as climate change. Taking this visit as an opportunity, China is willing to work with Denmark to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of the China-Denmark comprehensive strategic partnership, the spokesperson said.
