Celebrity makeup artist Mia Hawkswell has been working with Delta Goodrem for the past eight years.
This has included some of the Australian singer’s biggest events including the Sydney and Melbourne legs of her Innocent Eyes 20th Anniversary Tour, a Revlon campaign, a recent magazine cover and numerous media appearances and gigs.
It was during one of these work events that Hawkswell, 48, reconnected with Nine’s Entertainment Editor Richard Wilkins, 71, and the pair began dating in March 2024 when Goodrem was performing with Tom Jones.

“A big thank you Delta!!” Hawkswell says of the star’s role as cupid for the couple.
Last month, Hawkswell and Wilkins attended and had important roles at Goodrem’s wedding to long-time partner Matthew Copley in Malta.

Hawkswell was charged with doing the makeup of the seven bridesmaids, which included Today’s Renee Bargh.
”Her whole squad was there, and it was the most beautiful energy, full of love and support,” she says of the experience.
She says the brief from the bride was simple: “What the girls want” and “make them feel like themselves”.
“Thankfully, it was teamwork. The girls were understanding with timing, so I had them do a lip or their own mascara to save time, then I’d perfect,” she said.
“If the personalities were different, it would of been stressful … it was a dream to be a part of, very special.

“Also, knowing where you can reduce time, a multi-use product is valuable.”
There are extra makeup steps to take for a wedding, Hawkswell explains, adding that she had to factor in the warm European summer weather conditions.
She says skin prep is key to avoid “slip” and product choice is equally important, adding that she finalised the looks with a “heavy-duty duty reliable setting spray”.
Hawkswell used Terry Hyaluronic Glow Setting Mist, Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm which she says is “super hydrating” and “plumps the most dehydrated lip lines” and Ilia Eye Stylus & Makeup Forever Cream Shadow Sticks, which, once applied, “[aren’t] going anywhere, and they make for a great shadow base”.
She also used Kroylan Utra Setting Spray and The Secret Skin Care Solar Serum 50+ protection, which also “makes for a great primer with a radiant finish.”
Hawkwell used “a few different foundations” – Armani Luminous Silk, Trinny BFF All Day, and my trusty Makeup Forever HD palettes.
Between her doing the makeup of the seven bridesmaids, and Wilkins serving as the wedding MC, it was a “busy day” for the couple.
“Rich had never seen me in full wedding work mode before, so I gave him a heads-up: ‘I’ll definitely be running late, expect a panicked text to turn the steamer on’,” she said.
“And yep, that’s exactly what happened – from Siri! I burst in, he’s standing there stressed, asking where I’ve been?
“I was dressed, hair and makeup, all done in 15 minutes.
“Honestly, the hotel CCTV would’ve been hilarious. Me sprinting through the lobby with a suitcase… chaos. But I thrive in it. I can pull it together in no time.”

Wilkins even steamed Hawkswell’s dress for her ahead of the event, as the cheeky photo below shows.
She says Wilkins was the “perfect MC” because he’s “known Delta for most of her life, and they’re like family”.

“He nailed it, spoke straight from the heart. Had everyone in tears one minute and laughing the next,” she said.
“He was brilliant, I’ve seen him MC three weddings now. He’s just the best!”
And the wedding was beautiful.
“The entire week was everything you’d want, an intimate celebration of love,” Hawkswell continued.

“The energy was pure love and happiness, and so fun, so much fun!! I want to relive each event. They’ve set the bar very high!”
Hawkswell says she “especially loved how so much care and attention went into ensuring each guest felt loved and considered on their day.
“It was as if they were thanking us!”
