The reigning Super Bowl champions will be hosting the NFL Kickoff game.
Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles will host Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8:20 p.m. ET / 5:20 p.m. PT in the first game of the 2025 season, the NFL announced on Monday.
The NFL is releasing several games ahead of its full schedule announcement on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
It marks the 20th time since 2004 that the reigning champs will play the first game on the calendar, with the lone exception being the 2018 season when the Green Bay Packers played the Chicago Bears in the league’s 100th season.
The NFL will continue its Christmas Day games, with the Denver Broncos travelling to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs at 8:15 p.m. ET / 5:15 p.m. PT in the final game of a tripleheader.
It marks the third straight season the Chiefs will play on Dec. 25. They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers last Christmas.
The Broncos faced the Rams on Christmas Day in 2022, losing 51-14 in what would become a pivotal day in the franchise’s history. After the rout, Denver fired then first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett, before hiring Sean Payton prior to the 2023 season.
With Payton and rookie quarterback Bo Nix under centre in 2024, the Broncos made the post-season for the first time since winning Super Bowl 50 in 2015-16.
The opener wasn’t the only game announced for the Eagles on Monday as they will also play on Black Friday and in a Week 16 Saturday doubleheader.
Philadelphia will host Chicago on Nov. 28 at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT, and travel to Washington for an NFC East showdown against the Commanders on Dec. 20.
Also on Dec. 20, the Bears and Packers will play at Soldier Field. Times for the Saturday doubleheader are TBD.
