Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, held their final rallies on the evening of June 2 in Yeouido, Seoul, and Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall, respectively, appealing to citizens for support.

At his final rally in Yeouido, Lee called for ending the “insurrection” (attempted by former President Yoon Suk Yeol) through voting and completing the “revolution of light.”

Lee stated, “Yeouido is a historical site where the darkness of insurrection was driven out by the light of democracy, saving the country, securing the future, and rescuing us all. We will complete the revolution of light here in Yeouido, where it began.”

He continued, “We have exactly one day left from now until 8 p.m. tomorrow. If we don’t act and practice during this time, the harsh and cold winter of insurrection will persist. If we don’t win this presidential election, if Yoon Suk Yeol’s avatar, Jeon Kwang-hoon’s puppet wins, the insurrection leader Yoon will reappear as the former king.”

He appealed, “Please come out once again with all your might, with the desperate heart you had when rushing to the National Assembly on the night of insurrection on Dec. 3 last year. Let’s completely end the insurrection with the earnest heart that chanted for impeachment while holding cheering sticks. Let’s gather all our strength to surely start a new history tomorrow.”

Lee added, “I will certainly find all those responsible for the insurrection, accurately investigate the truth, and hold the main culprits accountable. I will make it so that an insurrection that threatens the people with the guns and knives entrusted by the people can never be dreamed of again in this country.”

He stated that security, maintaining order, and people’s livelihoods are the three reasons for the government’s existence, emphasizing that while the Yoon administration and the People Power Party have ruined all of these, the Democratic Party and himself will surely restore them.

After concluding his speech, Lee sang the national anthem with his supporters and bowed deeply, wrapping up his 22-day official election campaign schedule for the 21st presidential election.

Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, held his final rally for the 21st presidential election at Seoul City Hall Square. After starting in Jeju and passing through Busan, Daegu, and Daejeon, Kim arrived at Seoul Station and immediately took the stage set up in front of Seoul City Hall. He was accompanied by his wife Seol Nan-young, daughter Dong-ju, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

In his rally, Kim targeted Democratic Party candidate Lee, saying, “If he’s innocent and confident, why is he creating all these laws, making evil laws to become a monstrous dictator?”

He continued, “Can we forgive this monstrous bulletproof dictatorship that says he will eliminate all his crimes and stop trials if he becomes president?”

Kim emphasized, “A family where the candidate is facing five trials, where all family members freely use corporate cards, where the child gambles or enters pornographic sites and hurls various insults, such a family should not become the president.”

He appealed with a deep bow, saying, “Please make sure to vote, and I hope many people can achieve a democratic revolution tomorrow. I hope it becomes a day of economic revolution that revives the economy with your precious vote.”

Lee Nak-yon, the standing advisor of the New Future Democratic Party, took the podium and said, “We shared concerns that if things continue like this, the Republic of Korea could fall into a monstrous dictatorship.”

Lee warned, “Isn’t the Democratic Party thinking of extending their term rather than shortening it? If that happens, we will continue to live in a world like darkness.”

Han Dong-hoon, former leader of the People Power Party who competed with Kim in the primary, and Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo, and Yang Hyang-ja, co-chairs of the election committee, also joined hands at the final rally to appeal for support.
