Jeremy Edwards was the ultimate 2000s heartthrob before life took a very different turn
Jeremy Edwards’ career in showbiz began when he modelled as a teenager, appearing in top magazines, and went on to become a household name in the 2000s.
The 52-year-old’s breakthrough role came on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, where he won admiration for his portrayal of Kurt Benson and was named the show’s most attractive star. This newfound fame catapulted him into the spotlight, largely due to his impressive looks and undeniable charm.
His high-profile relationships, such as the one with S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens, also attracted significant media attention, often outshining even famous celebrity couples like Victoria and David Beckham.

However, Jeremy now focuses on his two children, Scarlett and Teddy, whom he shares with his wife Lydia Metz, and has left his days of showbiz parties behind.
Recalling his heyday, he told The Sun: “I had the best time of my life when I started out; I was going to elite showbiz parties,” Jeremy reminisces. “I was young, good-looking, and had loads of money – the money was insane – so make of that what you will”, reports the Mirror.
He also acknowledged: “But now things are different. I’m a husband, a dad, and my kids are my main priority. I like to be around for them as much as possible – having breakfast together and doing the school run. Although, I do still hear mums at the school gates saying, ‘Yeah, I fancied him when I was younger’.”
Jeremy and Rachel were the celebrity world’s golden couple in the early 2000s. Their romance was like a fairytale, with Jeremy proposing to Rachel on Valentine’s Day at London’s Dorchester Hotel after just 18 months of dating.
He revealed that he turned down a £2 million offer for his wedding to be featured in a magazine.
However, after three years together and one year of engagement, they decided to part ways – and eight months later, he met his current wife Lydia.
Looking back, Jeremy believes his ADHD, diagnosed four years ago, played a role in their breakup and affected his ability to cope with fame.
At present, Jeremy juggles four projects, including teaching neurodiverse students at the UK Film Academy, writing books, acting, and presenting on the teleshopping channel Ideal World.
He has also launched TWIST: The Way I See Things on his TikTok page @jeremytwist, which explores pressing issues in Britain, from homelessness and mental health to inequality and the cost-of-living crisis.
Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 6am on Channel 4′ s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4 .
