Last Epoch’s Tombs of the Erased season brings a spike in player numbers and a buckling of servers

This week brought the second season of stuff for OARPG Last Epoch, as the Tombs of the Erased update and all of its features went online this past Thursday as scheduled, and its arrival brought on some concurrency spikes and the problems that typically come along with them.

Shortly after the new season update went live, Eleventh Hour confirmed that high demand and rising player counts were causing connection problems while also suggesting that players go into offline mode for the time being as it addressed the issues. A pair of hotfixes to tackle performance problems and bugs were released the following day.

Meanwhile, the game has continued to draw attention to its ongoing busy weekend, heralding the first level 100 hardcore mode player and the arrival of an uber difficulty boss fight. Meanwhile, player concurrency appears to keep spiking, with over 164K players on Steam at the latest 24-hour peak and 140K players in-game right now as we type this on Saturday.
