Lexiuam Rises: Inside Andrew Osei-Karmen’s Cinematic Leap into Ambient Music

In a seamless fusion of cinema and sound, British actor Andrew Osei-Karmen—long hailed for his intense, introspective performances in film and theatre—has stepped into an entirely new spotlight. This time, as Lexiuam, a name already resonating through the ambient and synthwave scene with a surprisingly seasoned energy.

The transition isn’t as unexpected as it may appear. Karmen, whose artistic roots stretch beyond the stage and screen, has carried a quiet but lifelong passion for music—a muse that’s been quietly composing itself in the background of his career for years.

“Music has always been there,” Karmen shares with us in a quiet corner of a London café, his voice calm but animated. “I’d be on set between scenes, sketching melodies in my head or writing notes in my phone. It’s not new to me—it’s just that now I’m ready to share it.”

Indeed, 2024 marked a pivotal year for the rising polymath. Not only did he land the lead role in Dream, a moody, visually arresting indie film produced by Paris Film Pictures and filmed on the golden cliffs of Santa Barbara, but he also found himself immersed in a sonic world that would eventually shape the future of Lexiuam.

“Acting in Dream was electric,” Karmen reflects. “There’s something about Santa Barbara—it’s cinematic even when you’re not rolling. But what really struck me was the music scored by Delver.”

The film’s atmospheric score, a collaborative work by the French music production company Delver, left a lasting impression on Karmen—not just artistically, but personally.

“I became close with the guys at Delver. They live and breathe mood, texture, movement. That’s where I really started understanding the depth of musical storytelling,” he explains. “I didn’t want to just dabble anymore, I wanted to build something real.”

And he did. Enter Lexiuam—a sonic alter ego born from late nights in Paris studios and long walks through ambient dreams. Describing his style as “synthwave with soul,” Lexiuam’s music evokes pulsing nostalgia, futuristic melancholy, and wide-screen imagination. It’s a sound that doesn’t just play—it travels.

“I think music is a vessel,” Karmen says. “It can take people somewhere else, somewhere internal, even spiritual. With Lexiuam, that’s the whole aim. I want people to feel—like they’re in a dream they forgot they had.”

The project’s debut album, Chrome, quietly released in December, did more than just make a ripple—it surged. Garnering immediate attention on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, it landed on multiple curated playlists and caught the ear of both synthwave aficionados and new listeners craving something immersive.

It was the follow-up album, Horizon, that solidified Lexiuam’s voice in the scene. With its layered textures, cinematic builds, and reflective undertones, Horizon has gained significant traction across streaming giants like Amazon Music and Spotify, sparking a wave of online buzz and fan theories about the “emotional narratives” behind each track.

Still, one question remains: with this success, is acting taking a back seat?

“No way,” Karmen says with a knowing grin. “I love music as much as anyone else, but I am primarily an actor, and that hasn’t changed. Acting is where I started—it’s the heartbeat of my creativity. But music… music is the breath. One doesn’t replace the other.”

With Lexiuam, Andrew Osei-Karmen is doing more than expanding his résumé—he’s expanding the definition of modern artistry. Unbound by traditional lanes, he represents a new archetype: the hybrid creator, who moves between mediums not for spectacle, but for truth.

In the end, Lexiuam isn’t just an artist—it’s a feeling. And Karmen, whether through film or frequency, remains its quietly commanding guide.

Both Chrome and Horizon by Lexiuam are now streaming on all major platforms. For updates follow @lexiuam on all social media platforms.
