A Louisiana hairstylist went all the way off at a barbershop in Baton Rouge when a young girl’s mom refused to pay a late fee for arriving 10 minutes late. As a result, she lost her job. Now, the employee-customer clash is going viral.

Mom Clashes With Hairstylist Over Lateness
According to WBRZ, an unnamed mother and her 11-year-old daughter arrived at their appointment at 5:10 PM. The hairstylist, whose identity remains unknown, clearly wasn’t playing about her late fee and demanded it. Conchota Singleton, the child’s grandmother, said the hairstylist attempted to enforce a policy charging an extra $25 fee for arrivals more than 10 minutes late. However, the mother said she would not pay the additional sum, arguing she wasn’t late since she arrived at 5:10 PM. She claimed she wouldn’t need to pay the extra money, prompting the hairstylist to take matters into her own hands.
It’s worth noting that the young girl’s appointment was initially scheduled for April 14. The grandmother said the mother even paid for the full service upfront. Singleton added that the hairstylist decided to cancel, reschedule, and braid the girl’s hair on another date.
Hairstylist Attempts To Chop Off Girl’s Hair
Surveillance footage posted on Singleton’s Facebook shows her snatching scissors and chopping off the little girl’s fresh braids. The clip then shows a whole tussle breaking out between the adults. The mother, who is six months pregnant, attempts to save her daughter’s hair, grabbing it while the hairstylist pulls and slices with the shears in her hand. The hairstylist then proceeded by cutting the mom’s hand amid the scuffle.
The video shows that a barber and another client eventually jumped in to break up the scuffle, but the stylist was still clutching the girl’s hair. Eventually, she let go, ripped off the cape, and the little girl pulled her mom away and out of the barbershop.
Baton Rouge police responded to the scene soon after the incident, but officers filed no criminal charges. “They told me that there was no intent, that she was not trying to cut my daughter’s hand, but my issue is once she picked up scissors, she became a threat,” Singleton said.
Hairstylist Fired From Her Job
“We want to be clear: we do not condone or tolerate the actions that this stylist displayed,” Malveaux expressed. “We extend our sincerest apologies to the client and family affected, and to anyone who may feel uneasy as a result of this situation. This incident does not reflect the values or standards we uphold at Draft Picks.”
While cops did not charge the hairstylist, Singleton is reportedly pursuing the issue elsewhere and plans to bring it to the district attorney’s office.
