Younger For Longer: Steve’s Insights

Here’s a summary of our conversation with Steve.

Your most recent test result was a 0.73, which means that at this rate, in 10 years, your body would have only aged 7.3 years. I’d love to hear more about your background before starting this longevity regimen with NOVOS. Were you always generally health-conscious?

As a bit of background, I’m an optical scientist, and I work predominantly in the medical field with eye care. I’ve always been interested in health and the science behind it. Physically, I’ve always tried to maintain a good routine—going to the gym every day and eating healthy.

When I first came to Singapore and during my time in Australia, I had a rather disciplined lifestyle, eating primarily raw foods like cabbage and carrots daily. Even with extensive travel for my job, I always made time for the gym. In Singapore, I typically climb 30 floors in my condominium at night, followed by a gym session focusing on resistance exercises. Before COVID, I also swam laps in the mornings. I’ve kept this routine up for years, working out at least six times a week.

My wife is Japanese, so we eat very healthily—lots of raw vegetables and traditional Japanese foods. I generally eat only two meals a day, a small breakfast and a light dinner, and I’ve maintained this pattern for most of my life.

I’d love to hear more about your supplementation and how NOVOS fits into your larger protocol.

Typically, my supplementation was pretty straightforward—fish oil, some multivitamins, vitamin E, and creatine and HMB when I go to the gym. I’ve never been one to take hundreds of supplements. However, I’ve always been interested in the science behind health, particularly the remethylation of DNA and mitigating inflammatory pathways.

When I saw that NOVOS included AKG in its formulation, I was very interested in trying it. Since incorporating NOVOS into my regimen, I’ve noticed a significant increase in energy, particularly neural energy, which is crucial for my work. I need to stay alert throughout the day, and NOVOS has helped me do just that. It was a pleasantly surprising change, and I’ve continued using NOVOS ever since.

You’ve mentioned the cognitive benefits of staying sharp throughout the day. Have you noticed any other notable changes to your body or mind since starting with NOVOS?

Yes, I have. One thing I’ve noticed is the maintenance of my body mass. As you get older, it’s easy to lose muscle mass, especially if you miss a few days at the gym. Before NOVOS, if I missed three or four days due to travel or a cold, I would quickly lose weight and muscle mass. Now, I’m able to maintain my weight and muscle strength much more consistently, even if I miss a few days.

This consistency is not just physically beneficial but also mentally. The ability to return to the gym and pick up where I left off keeps me motivated. Maintaining my strength and routine is important for both my physical and mental health. It helps me deal with stress and keeps me positive throughout the day.

I don’t have expectations that I want to live to 150 (…) But I certainly do not want to go through an end phase of my life where I’m suffering from high levels of inflammation or chronic illnesses that make my life a misery.

Maintaining Strength and Clarity for Better Longevity

Let’s talk about your interpretation of longevity. What does quality of life mean to you, and what does longevity mean in your life?

For me, longevity is about staying healthy enough to continue doing what I love. I’m 68 now, and until I was 65, I was an executive officer in a public company in Japan. Retirement is expected at a certain age in those roles, but I have no desire to retire. I want to continue my research and work for as long as I can.

The number one currency for longevity is health. I don’t have any aspirations to live to 150, but I do want to avoid the chronic illnesses and inflammation that can make life miserable as you age. I’ve been lucky so far, and I attribute that to a combination of good luck and a disciplined approach to health—right supplementation, exercise, diet, and rest.

Longevity, to me, is about maintaining the ability to stay mentally and physically active, to continue working and enjoying life without the burden of chronic health issues.solve.
