A ‘traditional’ new Italian restaurant is set to open on a Birmingham high street, with owners assuring future customers that ‘no microwaves or frozen food are allowed in our kitchen’.

Ristorante Veneziano looks set to open at the top end of Kings Heath high street next to Pepes, in a unit previously occupied by a Mediterranean and Arabic buffet.

Before that, a popular Italian restaurant under the same name of Ristorante Veneziano was situated in the spot for almost a decade.

A website for the new eatery states that it will be ‘opening soon’, though an exact launch date has yet to be confirmed.

Specialising in ‘authentic Italian cuisine’, the website goes on to say that the restaurant will be serving fresh fish every day and that ‘no microwaves or frozen food’ will be used in the kitchen.

The menu will be inspired by the Vèneto region of Italy, the home of Merlot, Pinot Grigio and Prosecco.

All wines will be directly imported from Italy, it says, and staff will provide ‘warm Italian service’.

BirminghamLive has attempted to contact the new Ristorante Veneziano for comment.

Elsewhere on Kings Heath high street, regulars at Chai Ra Coffee House were saddened to see that the café recently closed after six years, with a notice in the window suggesting the lease had been forfeited.

Further down the row, beloved bakery Levain and Cherry has closed ‘until further notice’ due to staff shortages after its second site opened in nearby Stirchley in March.

Independent discounter D&S Bargains announced plans to close after almost four years on the street and Gabrielle Hardicker, who runs homeware store A Painted Room on York Road will be shutting up shop this month.
