Office Dog Games and Asmodee have announced The Hobbit: There & Back Again by game designer, Dr. Reiner Knizia (Amun-Re, High Society). This 1-4 player competitive dice-rolling adventure is scheduled to arrive in stores this fall, right in time for the holiday shipping season, with a pre-launch celebration at Gen Con Indy in August. It will be Office Dog’s second title based on Tolkien’s Legendarium after last year’s The Fellowship of the Ring trick taker and also marks Knizia’s return to Middle-earth in nearly 25 years since his Spiel des Jahres-winning Lord of the Rings board game was released.
Step into the pages of The Hobbit as you join Bilbo for eight unique and replayable adventures. Draft dice to collect resources and overcome obstacles as you make your way from Bag End to the Lonely Mountain. Players can also enjoy and optional “hard mode” and journey alone in single-player.
“What excited me the most about The Hobbit: There & Back Again was the wonderful mix of quick to learn rules, surprisingly deep competitive gameplay, and the narrative pull to play just one more game,” said Bryan Bornmueller, Creative Sourcing Manager for Office Dog Games, when asked why he chose to sign and develop this title.
