Sylcast, which develops a self-developed tree monitoring, prediction, and management platform, announced on the 22nd that it has received pre-seed investment of 300,000 euros (approximately 50 million yen) from Lifetime Ventures. Lifetime Ventures has been supporting the social implementation of science and technology through the “OIST-Lifetime Ventures Fund” in collaboration with OIST (an interdisciplinary graduate university for science established in 2011), including investments in EF Polymer, an agritech company originating from OIST.
Sylcast is developing a platform that visualizes tree water stress, growth status, and environmental responses in real-time using non-invasive sensors and proprietary data analysis technology. The company’s technology supports sustainable management of green assets across a wide range of fields, including urban greening, agriculture, and forestry. It aims to innovate natural resource management through real-time monitoring utilizing tree “pulsations.”
With this funding, the company plans to develop a “performance benchmark function” that quantifies and compares the growth and stress conditions of individual trees, as well as long-term prediction functions based on physical models. They also aim to improve the expandability and practicality of their products by adding environmental sensing functions to modular sensors.
