Overwatch 2 has officially revealed the full suite of abilities for Wuyang, the new support hero coming in Season 18. Featuring fluid movement, great crowd control, and adaptable gameplay, Wuyang is sure to make a splash in Overwatch 2 during his trial weekend from August 14-18, and again when he officially arrives on August 26.
During the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event earlier this year, Blizzard revealed both Freja, the frosty damage hero added in Season 16, and Wuyang, then known by the codename “Aqua,” a watery support hero coming in Season 18. With Season 17 almost at an end, it was about time for Wuyang to make his debut.
Overwatch 2 Official Wuyang Gameplay Reveal
Now, Overwatch 2 has officially previewed the upcoming hero with a gameplay trailer in which players can see the new character in action. Wuyang’s primary fire, Xuanwu Staff, launches an orb that can be controlled, making it perfect for taking down airborne heroes like Freya and Lifeweaver, while his secondary fire, Restorative Stream, is like a mixture between Mercy’s Caduceus Staff and Zenyatta’s Orb of Harmony. Meanwhile, Rushing Torrent gives Wuyang excellent mobility, and Guardian Wave can be used to boost healing on allies, disrupt enemy formations, and score environmental kills. Lastly, his ultimate, Tidal Blast, shields himself or an ally briefly, after which they detonate in a blast that heals the target and knocks down all nearby enemies, making it a powerful tool for both engaging and escaping.
Fans can look forward to trying this hero out for themselves during his Overwatch 2 trial period from August 14-18. During this time, Wuyang will be available in Quick Play for all players, with his permanent arrival in Core Overwatch 2 coming in Season 18 on August 26.
With the reveal of Wuyang, only one more new hero remains for 2025. Unlike the first two from this year, Hero 45 has yet to be formally identified by the Overwatch 2 developers just yet. However, several Easter eggs, leaks, and in-game teasers have suggested the next Overwatch 2 character will be a female melee gladiator hero known as “The Wolf of Retribution.” The hero is set to arrive in late December, so fans likely still have a few months to wait until they see anything official about this new combatant.
