Primavera Sound’s most iconic queer performances

Primavera Sound Barcelona is back for 2025, with one of its strongest line-ups to date. 

Across three days this June, the 2025 festival will feature last year’s holy trinity of pop music, with Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and lesbian pop goddess Chappell Roan all set to perform.

Charli will be revitalising her Brat summer for the second year in a row, bringing queer “Rush” singer Troye Sivan along for the ride as they headline night one on 5 June with their joint “Sweat” show.

Night two, on 6 June, will see “Taste” singer Sabrina Carpenter take the stage after her showstopping 2024, which continued into this year following the re-release of her Grammy Award-winning record, Short n Sweet.

The festival will culminate on night three with a headlining slot from two-time BRIT Award-winner and chart-topping “Pink Pony Club” singer, Chappell Roan.

Across the weekend, revellers will also get to see performances from alt-pop royalty including FKA Twigs, HAIM, Wet Leg, Beabadoobee, and Confidence Man.

The weekend will also see sets from a flurry of queer music icons, including Clairo, ANOHNI and the Johnsons, and of course, Troye Sivan.

Yet Primavera Sound is known for platforming major queer stars on its stages, as it’s been doing so for years.

Last year’s festival saw Sivan joined on stage by a troupe of men for a rendition of his song “Got Me Started”, plus performances from historic trans artist Ethel Cain.

Earlier this week, Cain became the first trans woman to have an album reach the top ten on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Previous years have also seen iconic queer performances from the likes of “Lucky” singer Halsey, “Make Me Feel” hitmaker Janelle Monáe, and drag music icon Pabllo Vittar.

In 2019, late, great trans DJ SOPHIE graced the Primavera Sound stage for a legendary set.

When is Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025?

While the main three Primavera Sound Barcelona festival dates are taking place from Thursday 5 June to Saturday 7 June, there are other festival activities happening on 4 June and 8 June.

Primavera Sound Barcelona takes place in Parc del Fòrum in the Spanish capital city.

Tickets for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025 have been on sale for a while now, and so those looking to attend the festival’s main three days will have to join a waitlist.
