Rainier Beach park shooting injures girl, 8, and woman, 76

An 8-year-old girl and a 76-year-old woman were injured in a shooting Thursday evening at a Rainier Beach park.

Neither injuries were life threatening, the Seattle Police Department said in an online blotter post.

Gunfire was reported at Be’er Sheva Park in the 8700 block of Seward Park Avenue South around 7 p.m., the department said.

The department said detectives learned that a suspect had fired multiple shots from a vehicle along the street before fleeing.

Officers found the child with a graze wound on her jaw. She was treated by Seattle Fire Department crews before a parent took her to a hospital.

The older woman arrived at a nearby fire station with a gunshot wound. She was treated by medics before she took herself to Harborview Medical Center.

No arrests have been made.

Seattle Police Department detectives are investigating the shooting.
