Rarible has launched RaribleFUN, an experimental trading interface built for speed, simplicity, and performance. The new product—currently in beta—marks the first NFT marketplace to go live on MegaETH’s “Real-time Blockchain” testnet.
This move underscores a significant shift in the NFT trading landscape, where real-time performance and usability are becoming more critical than speculative hype or feature overload.
Reimagining NFT Trading for Speed and Focus
Unlike traditional NFT platforms that often cater to creators and collectors with an expanding list of marketplace features, RaribleFUN is designed “by traders, for traders.”
According to CEO and co-founder Alexei Falin, the goal is to create a no-frills interface that prioritizes speed, cleanliness, and efficiency over bells and whistles.
“Rarible.FUN isn’t about feature bloat, it’s about focus,” said Falin. “We’ve built a lightning-fast NFT interface with one of the cleanest user experiences on the market. It’s for collectors and traders who just want to trade, fast—and it’s just the beginning.”
At the heart of this new experience is MegaETH Ethereum L2, a novel blockchain architecture that eliminates traditional block gas limits by deploying extreme node specialization. This allows MegaETH to operate in “continuous compute” mode, enabling sub-second transaction times and an experience that rivals traditional Web2 applications.
MegaETH claims to process approximately 1.7 gigagas per second on its current testnet, significantly surpassing the throughput of major Layer 2 solutions like Optimism and Arbitrum.
MegaETH has attracted substantial backing from prominent figures in the crypto space, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin, as well as investment from Dragonfly Capital.
The First NFT Marketplace on MegaETH’s Testnet
With RaribleFUN, Rarible becomes the first NFT marketplace to integrate with MegaETH’s testnet, giving users a sneak peek at what high-performance, real-time trading could look like in a Web3-native format.
“MegaETH was designed to push Web3 experiences on par with Web2 levels. With RaribleFUN, we’re excited to showcase what’s possible when blockchain infrastructure is built for real-time use cases,” says MegaETH Co-founder, Shuyao Kong.
Users can already engage with the platform—minting NFTs, trading assets, and participating in testnet-exclusive drops. A commemorative NFT collection is also live, further encouraging community engagement and feedback.
Beyond just speed, RaribleFUN’s experimental framework relies heavily on community feedback. Every iteration of the interface is informed by the behaviors, friction points, and suggestions of early users—creating a product that evolves in public and in real time.
This community-first, performance-oriented model is a notable departure from the NFT boom of 2021-2022, when marketplaces raced to differentiate through exclusive drops and royalties—often at the expense of streamlined functionality.
Over the years, Rarible has powered over 8,700 partner storefronts and championed no-code solutions for creators across multiple chains. Its expansion into a testnet-first, trading-centric platform hints at a larger shift: NFTs are growing up, and so are their users.
Will Testnet-First Be the New Standard?
Rarible’s decision to launch on MegaETH’s testnet seems driven less by convention and more by opportunity. With MegaETH offering real-time blockchain performance, it provides the kind of infrastructure RaribleFUN needs to deliver a frictionless, speed-oriented trading experience—even if it’s still pre-mainnet.
Though still in beta, RaribleFUN’s integration with MegaETH could reframe what NFT marketplaces aim to be in 2025 and beyond. Instead of leaning on curated drops or high-profile brand partnerships, it’s betting on usability, speed, and active community feedback.
Rarible has not confirmed a timeline for mainnet deployment but is expected to use data gathered during the beta phase to guide development and marketing strategies ahead of a full-scale launch.
For now, the platform is live and open to the public at Rarible.FUN. Collectors and traders can test the new platform, mint, and trade directly on the MegaETH testnet, and participate in shaping what could be the next evolution in NFT trading infrastructure.
