Runescape Dragonwilds – Complete Potions Guide

Runescape Dragonwilds is now in early access in a particularly barebones but still enjoyable state. Right now, while there is no farming or herblore in the game, you can still make potions through some basic alchemy. In this guide, we will give you a brief rundown of what you need to know in order to make potions in the game so you can stock up on some passive buffs!

Complete Potions Guide

There is a wide range of potions that you can brew in this early version of the game, and in order to make them, all you will need is a brewing cauldron in your base. This is unlocked very early, as you get the recipe for it by gathering some clay for the first time.

If you have not found any clay yet, just go to the whispering swamp zone and run around until you find some brown clay nodes. They stick out due to their color, and they are impossible to miss. Use your pickaxe to mine a bit or cast rocksplosion to speed up the process.

With some clay on hand, you should now be able to make a brewing cauldron at your base. This must be built under a roof, so make sure that it has enough coverage before you try using it. To make one, you will need the following resources:

  • 16x Ash Logs
  • 10x Rune Essence
  • 6x Coarse Thread
  • 6x Clay

In addition to that, you are going to need to make a pottery wheel, which requires pretty basic materials. This will allow you to make clay vessels, which are required for brewing potions. On top of that, you will also need to make a kiln, which is made with the following:

  • 20x Stone
  • 10x Fire Runes
  • 8x Ash Logs
  • 6x Clay

With all of these work stations set up in your base, you can now start working on potions. First, you should make an unfired clay vessel at the pottery wheel, and then feed it to the kiln to complete the crafting process.

Make as many clay vessels as you think you will need, as one is required for every single potion. We recommend just leaving a large number of clay vessels at the kiln while you go off and forage for other materials.

In order to make potions, you will need to feed either wood or charcoal to the brewing cauldron first, as it requires a fire source to start working. Then, place a clay vessel and then a main and secondary ingredient in the remaining empty slots.

Just like in the original game, potions are almost always made with one herb and one secondary material. In Dragonwilds, each herb type is used for varying potions, and you just need to start experimenting with secondary ingredients to figure out the recipes.

    • Heals a decent amount of health. Significantly better than the weak variant, but much harder to stock up on due to where the materials are found.
  • Attack Potion – 1x Clay Vessel, 1x Snapdragon, 1x Ground Granite
    • Gives you a decent boost to critical hit chance for several minutes.

And those are all of the potions that we know of so far, as well as how to make them and what they do. You should now be fully equipped with the knowledge of brewing varying types of potions in the game, and you will be ready to figure out the recipes for whatever else they release later down the line.
