Rush hour ‘explosion’ in London sends smoke billowing into sky

Fire crews have raced to a suspected explosion at an electrical substation in London.

Flames erupted and black smoke billowed into the sky after the fire broke out during rush hour on Tuesday morning.

Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters have been dispatched to the scene on Victoria Passage in Westminster, according to the London Fire Brigade.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the huge blaze from Warwick Avenue, with the smoke visible across the city.
