President Donald J. Trump’s Nominee to be the next Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Jared Isaacman, testified Wednesday, April 9th, before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on his nomination. View testimony here.

Upon announcing his nomination, President Donald J. Trump said, “Jared will drive NASA’s mission of discovery and inspiration, paving the way for groundbreaking achievements in Space science, technology, and exploration. Jared’s passion for Space, astronaut experience, and dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration, unlocking the mysteries of the universe, and advancing the new Space economy make him ideally suited to lead NASA into a bold new Era.”

Before the committee, Isaacman said, “My loyalty is to this nation, the space agency, and its world-changing mission.”

In alignment with NASA’s longstanding history of widespread, bipartisan support, Isaacman has accumulated support from both sides of the aisle and industry leaders.

Chairman, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said, “Mr. Isaacman commanded the first all-civilian spacewalk on Inspiration4. In 2024, he flew his second commercial mission, going further into space than any other manned mission since Apollo 17. He brings a unique perspective to the challenges facing NASA and the space industry today.”

Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) said, “For nearly 70 years, the United States has been at the forefront of space exploration. President Trump knows how critical it is to reinvigorate NASA so we can once again lead the world to new heights, and that’s why he chose exactly the right man for the job: Jared Isaacman. A successful innovator, entrepreneur, pilot, and astronaut, Jared believes in NASA’s core mission. He has the experience and skillset to ensure we continue to lead in the greatest frontier ever known, and I look forward to adding NASA administrator to his already remarkable resume.”

Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) said, “[Isaacman] is dedicated to restoring mission clarity and bold leadership to NASA, and I have no doubt he will reignite American space exploration.”

Rep. George Whitesides (D-Calif.) said, “I believe Isaacman will be ‘excellent.’ He understands the breadth of NASA’s responsibilities, from the cutting edge of aircraft research to ambitious human space flight, from studying the Earth system to robotic Solar System exploration.”

Govs. Bill Lee (R-Tenn.), Sarah Sanders (R-Ark.), Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), Brian Kemp (R-Ga.), Mike Kehoe (R-Mo.), Kevin Stitt (R-Okla.), and Greg Abbott (R-Texas) said, “Few individuals are better equipped with the technical expertise and strategic vision necessary to lead NASA into the future. Minority Leader of the Alabama House of Representatives, Anthony Daniels (D-Ala.) said, “Mr. Isaacman possesses the qualities necessary to serve as an excellent NASA Administrator, and his swift confirmation would benefit the Marshall Space Flight Center, the City of Huntsville, the State of Alabama, and the nation-at-large.”

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and former Rep. Bob Walker (R-Pa.) said, “Given the golden age of American innovation that President Trump intends to build, NASA needs a leader with the vision and experience necessary to think beyond old models and drive the agency to new heights. That leader is Jared Isaacman.”

Former NASA Administrator under the first Trump administration, Jim Bridenstine said, “I think Jared Isaacman is going to be an amazing NASA Administrator. I think he’s got all the tools to be what could be the most consequential NASA Administrator given the era in which we live now.”

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a committee vote on the nomination of Jared Isaacman to be NASA Administrator on Wednesday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m. ET. If successful, the nomination will then make its way to the Senate floor for confirmation.
