WSJ consumer good reporter Chaudhuri departs

Saabira Chaudhuri, a consumer goods reporter at The Wall Street Journal, has left the publication after 12 years.

Chaudhuri worked in London. She wrote about large, publicly traded companies as well as broader industry trends in the U.S., Europe and elsewhere. She focused on how our consumption of everyday products is increasingly affecting our environment and our health.

She joined the Journal in 2013 to cover banking from New York. She previously worked at Dow Jones Newswires, Forbes, Fast Company and Mint.

Chaudhuri has a master’s in business and economic reporting from New York University, a B.A. in sociology from Mount Holyoke College and also spent a year studying law and sociology at the London School of Economics.

She grew up in Bangalore, India, and is the author of the new book “Consumed: How Big Brands Got Us Hooked on Plastic.”
