Fans widely appreciate Tom Hardy for his portrayal of the alien symbiote, Venom. Although the character originates from Spider-Man’s comic storylines, Hardy had previously revealed that the two nearly appeared together on screen, but it “just didn’t happen.” Recently, the “Bikeriders” actor clarified that people had “misquoted” him and explained what he meant.
While speaking to “The Hollywood Reporter”, the interviewer reminded Tom Hardy that he once mentioned Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man almost teamed up for a project, but studio politics killed the idea.
Responding to the outlet’s claim, the “Mad Max: Fury Road” actor clarified that he hadn’t said that. He explained, “That’s kind of moved on from a very simple quote I gave specifically about my children watching ‘Venom.”
Tom Hardy expressed how difficult it is to explain to a child why his two favorite superheroes can’t appear together in a film. “That’s such a shame,” he said.
Reflecting on his time on the set of a “Spider-Man” movie, “The Dark Knight Rises” actor said, “We almost got it, but it didn’t happen, which is the truth. It didn’t happen.” Hardy recalled how Venom and Spider-Man nearly came together, noting that he was part of the “Spider-Man” film and calling it all connected.
Talking of his Venom entries, Tom Hardy mentioned, “The trilogy is now over and it didn’t happen. So, it didn’t get killed by anything, it just didn’t happen.”
Although the actor didn’t name the movie, he clearly referred to the MCU’s 2021 release “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, where he appeared in a post-credits scene.
Tom Hardy portrayed Eddie Brock, also known as Venom, in three films: “Venom” (2018), “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), and the final installment, “Venom: The Last Dance” (2024).
