Is Stardew Valley’s highly anticipated sister title, Haunted Chocolatier, delayed? ConcernedApe says ‘maybe a little’ – Destructoid

Stardew Valley is getting another update, though when that is is anyone’s guess. Developer ConcernedApe initially said this patch won’t take away from his upcoming title Haunted Chocolatier, but as of a blog post today, that seems to no longer be the case.

Commenting on his recent announcement of a new update for Stardew Valley, one of the best-selling and most popular indie games in history, lead developer ConcernedApe expressed the unfortunate reality that, yes, Haunted Chocolatier‘s release will be impacted. How much? “Maybe a little,” he said, adding that he’ll “have to spend a little more time focused on Stardew Valley.”

The reasoning behind this is pretty clear: Stardew Valley remains popular and a growing game, with ConcernedApe requiring a stronger “connection” to the game, as he put it, to be able to deliver high-quality improvements.

And to do so, he’ll have to “touch every piece of new content.”

However, despite this new development, ConcernedApe does not want to make any promises or guarantees regarding either title. He even stated that Update 1.7 could come after Haunted Chocolatier‘s launch, but that only time will tell.

At the end of the day, Stardew Valley is ConcernedApe’s first and most successful game, which he says he wants to “take care of” for a while longer. Thus, the second game could take longer to come out.

“It is what it is,” he said.

With how many games have come out over the past few years, launching with either half the content or none of the functionality, I, for one, don’t mind that ConcernedApe is taking his time. Developing a game, especially one as detailed as Stardew Valley or, no doubt, Haunted Chocolatier, is a long and arduous process.

Things can go right, they can go wrong. Focus shifts this way and that. It is, as he says, what it is, and all we can do is be patient and wait.
