There are quite a few survival horror titles to look forward to at the moment, but the one I want to highlight is Agni: Village of Calamity! It blends Resident Evil and Silent Hill, including the classic forced camera perspectives, making it feel like you’re playing a modern take on the old games we already know and love.
Agni: Village of Calamity does not have an official release date yet, but you can add it to your wishlist via Steam to keep up to date with the latest news. Why not check out our news on Soulbond, a gritty low-poly horror that involves collecting trading cards and fending off the undead!
A Secret Investigation
Set in Indonesia, Agni is an investigator with the police who decides to go to an eerily quiet village. The thing is, this trip isn’t authorised. But once her investigation begins, she starts to realise she may have bitten off more than she can chew. The unauthorisation of her mission becomes the least of her worries.
Something about this village is clearly off, in more ways than one. But it’s not just an uncomfortable atmosphere she must contend with… as there are monstrosities waiting in the shadows. The mutated monsters you come face to face with are terrifyingly gruesome.
Modern Yet Classic
As dangerous as this village is, it isn’t half a sight to see. The graphics are gorgeous, and while the mechanics and vibes are reminiscent of classic titles, the visuals remind me of what we could have had with P.T.
Agni: Village of Calamity includes fan-favourite survival horror features, such as puzzles, scavenging for resources, and exploring through buildings and vegetation for anything that can potentially point towards an explanation.
With cinematic cutscenes, excellent lighting, and immersive sound design, it feels like you’re wandering around the corridors of abandoned buildings yourself. Can Agni make it out of this village with the answers she’s looking for?
