*Spoilers Ahead – Friends, if you have not watched ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 finale just yet, do not – I repeat – do NOT read on. The rest of you, let’s chat.
Well, it’s over. We finally know who dies in The White Lotus season 3, and many of us are still sobbing. Why Mike White? Why did you have to kill them off? By them, of course, we mean the loving astrology-obsessed Chelsea played by the brilliant Aimee Lou Wood and her wealthy, troubled partner Rick played by the equally brilliant Walton Goggins.
Yes, that image of the ying and yang death will be haunting most of us for a very long time.
After the epic one-and-a-half-hour episode aired last night, Walton took to Instagram to share a series of behind-the-scenes pics of Rick and Chelsea along with his thoughts about their relationship, and perhaps the most beautiful take away from the entire series:
“Rick + Chelsea. With the heaviest of hearts… To me, ours was a love story. it was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved, childhood trauma. We all have them… but can we move past them. In the depths of our despair there is always beauty around us. If we can sit with our pain, just sit with it… not react… not be defined by it… It’s there. The love the world is constantly giving in any given moment is there. Always waiting for us to see it…Trust me I know.”
Did you catch that? The bit about all the love in this world? And how it’s just there, “waiting for us to see it”?

Chelsea was very much a representation of that love. Her positivity. Her vibe. Her decision to never give up on Rick.
And Rick? Well, he was in pain over what he thought was the loss of his father. A kind of pain that did define him. And one that made him react.
There’s a heartbreaking moment when Chelsea tells Rick their lives are intertwined and if something bad happens to him, something bad happens to her too. She was right.
Walton’s message continued, “Thank you Mike White for your imagination, your tender heart, for the privilege of giving us the opportunity to tell it. Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner, a journey I will never forget. Sammy Rock for being the best wing man a fella could ask for. And every stellar f***ing actor in this cast. You’re just incredible to watch.”
Over 6.2 million people tuned in to watch the season finale on the day of release, a 30% rise on the previous seasons.
